Getting started
FRANK Linux is a NOMMU Linux stack for the RP2350 Cortex-M33. It runs on the FRANK Core 2 Proto (opens in a new tab): two RP2350s with 8 MB PSRAM each, tied together by a 96 MiB/s parallel link. HDMI console, USB keyboard, shell, and a userspace that fits in 16 MB of flash.
You get an editor, file manager, HTTPS browser, mail client, and an on-board C compiler. Enough to work on the machine, not just prove it boots.
What you get #
FRANK Linux v1.00
frank login: root
~ # uname -m
armv7ml
~ # cat /proc/cpuinfo | head -2
CPU part : 0xd21
Hardware : RP2350 (Device Tree Support)
Linux runs on the slave RP2350A. The master RP2350B is the terminal: HDMI, USB HID, microSD, and the link. Linux does not drive those peripherals itself.
ARM on the Cortex-M33 #
pi-pico2-linux targets the RP2350's Hazard3 RISC-V cores. This tree is the ARM path: Cortex-M33, PMSAv8 MPU, FDPIC userspace, shared uClibc-ng. Kernel protection, execute-in-place rootfs, console, storage, networking, and the apps listed under Apps.
